AFC Champions League: Cho Dong-keon Fires Koreans To ACL Final

Cho
Al Shabab's Asian Champions League dream came to an abrupt halt on Wednesday when they were beaten 1-0 by Seongnam Ilhwa in the second leg of their semi-final encouner. After Seongnam'4-3 loss in the first leg, the Koreans did just enough in the second leg to book their ticket for the final on away goals.

Seongnam started the match the better side of the two and were all over their opponents in the opening minutes of the game. The Koreans deservedly opened the score after 31 minutes of play via Cho Dong-keon.

Dzenan Radoncic headed on a long pass to set up Cho and the young forward calmly slotted home to make it 4-4 on aggregate.

Al Shabab desperately needed a goal in order to prevent elimination, but they struggled to break through the hosts defence.

Nevertheless, they got a good chance to level the score around the hour mark. Nasser Al-Shamrani came close to finding the net, but his well taken shot was eventually saved by Seongnam goalie Jung Sung-ryong.

Abdullah Suhail then almost tapped home the rebound, but Jung pulled off another superb save to deny the Shabab attacker.

Seongnam have proceeded to the final in Tokyo on November 13 against either Al Hilal of Saudi Arabia or Zob Ahan of Iran.
